Applying Patterns:
- Select the Paint Bucket Tool: Open Photoshop and select the Paint Bucket Tool (shortcut: G) from the toolbar.

- Select a Pattern: Click on the pattern preview in the options bar to open the Pattern Picker. Choose a pattern from the preset patterns or load custom patterns.
- Adjust Scale and Alignment: Before applying the pattern, you can adjust the scale and alignment options in the options bar:
- Scale: Changes the size of the pattern. A higher value makes it larger, while a lower value makes it smaller.
- Alignment: Determines how the pattern aligns within the area. Choose between "Tile," "Mirror," and "Offset."
- Click to Fill: Click on the area of your canvas that you want to fill with the selected pattern.
Creating Custom Patterns:
- Open or Create an Image: You can create a pattern from an existing image or design a new one.
- Define the Pattern: Select the area you want to turn into a pattern using a selection tool. Go to "Edit" > "Define Pattern." Give your pattern a name and click "OK."
Pattern Overlay Layer Style:
- Add a New Layer: Create a new layer that you want to apply the pattern to.
- Layer Style: Double-click on the layer or go to "Layer" > "Layer Style" > "Pattern Overlay."
- Choose a Pattern: In the Pattern Overlay dialog, click on the pattern thumbnail to open the Pattern Picker. Select the desired pattern.
- Adjust Scale, Blend Mode, and Opacity: Within the Pattern Overlay dialog, you can adjust settings such as: Scale - Change the size of the pattern, Blend Mode - Choose how the pattern blends with the layer beneath or Opacity - Adjust the transparency of the pattern overlay.
- Pattern Stamp Tool: Select the Pattern Stamp Tool (S) from the toolbar. In the options bar, choose a pattern and use the tool to paint patterns directly onto your image.
Seamless Patterns: For patterns to tile seamlessly, ensure that the edges match when the pattern repeats. This is particularly important for patterns created from images. Experimenting with these settings will give you a good understanding of how to effectively use patterns in Photoshop to enhance your designs and creative projects.
